Dulcimer? Schmulcimer!
What!?! You never heard of a lap ducimer before? Well, now you can no longer say that again!
As most of you know, my newest CD is a (pretty large) collection of instrumental lap dulcimer music and is titled Three Strings.
The lap dulcimer is an American instrument originating in the Eastern US region of the Appalacian Mountains of North America. The sound of this three to five-stringed zither often features various modal tunings and drone harmonies.
I actually play the three-string dulcimer, often in a somewhat classical style (if there could be such a style). Also on the project you will hear some of the traditional playing of this unique instrument using a pick to strum all the strings and a noter stick to catch the melody.
Frankly I think you need to hear it to believe it so I've set up a site where you can hear (AND DOWNLOAD) some of this soothing, and refreshing music for yourself.
To hear some of the songs from the project click

and be sure to listen to one of my favorite (original) songs Pocketknife.
Let me know what you think, will you?
